Update: Randy Travis Suffers Stroke

Following a stroke, Randy Travis is in critical condition and undergoing emergency surgery in a Texas hospital. The country singer was initially admitted to the Baylor Medical Center in McKinney, Texas on Sunday, suffering from viral cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure.  The complications occurred only hours after the 54-year-old singer had shown signs of improvement.

Travis’ publicist issued a statement Wednesday evening regarding his condition:

“As a complication of his congestive heart failure, Mr. Randy Travis has suffered a stroke and is currently undergoing surgery to relieve pressure on his brain.  He is in critical condition. We will have updates as they become available. His family and friends here with him at the hospital request your prayers and support.”
