Just a few months after it’s launch Nash Icon Records announced Ronnie Dunn as latest signing. The Nash Icon Record label is the result of a team-up between country records powerhouse Big Machine Label Group and Cumulus Media. Dunn recently teased the rumor on Facebook, but it is official. The latter half of esteemed country music duo Brooks & Dunn follows fellow icon Reba by joining the nascent label.
“The Big Machine and Cumulus combination is a force, and I am proud to be included in this innovative venture”, commented Dunn.
Nash Icon has thus far kept their word of bringing us new music from beloved artists of recent history. The bridge that gaps classic country gold to well, whatever this is we have now. Reba’s single, “Going Out Like That”, dropped earlier this month and now Ronnie’s on board. As a 90’s country fan I am eager to see what the next announcement will be out of the Nash Icon label.
“Ronnie Dunn has one of the smoothest, most recognized and most popular voices of the last twenty-five years in country music. I am truly honored to have him join us and take his rightful place as an icon. Great music is on the way!” Bolstered BMLG CEO Scott Borchetta.
I am not sure it is Scott’s job to appoint the “icon” title as I reckon Ronnie Dunn’s body of work + fanbase + pharaoh’s tomb worth of awards = icon. I suppose being one of the most powerful men on 16th ave earns you not only the right to decide what we like now, but also decide who we liked before. Hmm.
I digress. Any icon fans out in sin city can catch Dunn, alongside former partner Kix Brooks and the aforementioned Reba, in Reba, Brooks & Dunn: Together In Vegas. The residency begins June 2015 and will be featured at Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace.
