Kenny Rogers Announces Retirement After Final Tour

For the past 57 years, as sure as the sun would come up in the morning and set in the evening, there was one thing you could count on, that Kenny Rogers would soon be coming to a venue near you to perform.

However, that time is now drawing to a close…Kenny Rogers announced on NBC’s The Today Show this morning that his next world tour commencing in 2016 will be his last.

It’s happily sad or sadly happy,” he said of the news. “I’m going to do a big worldwide tour, and it’s going to be my last. I’m going to say goodbye at that point; I’ve done this long enough.”

More details and dates for Rogers’ final World Tour will be announced in the coming months.

Once Again Its ChristmasToday also marks the release his first new Christmas album in seventeen years titled: Once Again It’s Christmas. The festive set is Rogers’ first Christmas release since 1998 and his sixth Christmas release overall.

Christmas is my favorite time of year. It’s a very important season for me, especially now that I have twin boys who just turned 11 years old. It’s reminded me of how you see it through different eyes when you’re a parent. It’s wonderful,” Rogers said.

Rogers’ Once Again It’s Christmas Tour featuring Linda Davis will include performances of holiday favorites and his No. 1 hits through concerts across the United States and Canada. The final schedule of dates will be announced soon.
