Eric Church was just one of the many legendary artists to pay tribute to Mavis Staples at ‘Mavis Staples: I’ll Take You There – An All-Star Concert Celebration’.
The concert special, which had its premiere on AXS earlier this month, will be released as a CD/DVD set on June 2nd via Blackbird Presents Records, but today you can watch Church cover a Staples Singers favorite, “Eyes On The Prize”.
Rolling Stone Country said of the cover…
“Church does a faithful rendition of Staples’ version and gives the song a swinging groove.”
‘Mavis Staples: I’ll Take You There – An All-Star Concert Celebration’ featured performances from Bonnie Raitt, Greg Allman, Jeff Tweedy, Win Butler, and Mavis herself, among many others. It will be Blackbird Presents’ first release on their own record label.
