The Voice Of Sunday Night Football: Carrie Underwood’s New Intro

Carrie Underwood has been the voice of NBC’s Sunday Night Football since 2013, and she’s back again for another season even though her schedule is a little busier now that she is a mom to baby Isaiah.

I love football. I’m honored they asked me to kick it off,” she says. “Hopefully when people hear the song, they’ll just feel ready for the big game!”

The brand new intro debuted September 13th to kick off the 2015-2016 season. It will replay each week before the start of the game. Fans who missed Underwood the first time around can watch the full clip online.

The video features Underwood performing on stage among some flashy CGI representations of skylines and team logos along with footage from games and player profiles, combined with clips of the singer playfully interacting with the players themselves.

Underwood’s relatable, down-to-earth personality shines through her charm as she practices different poses with some of the players themselves.

Her newest single “Smoke Break” is a staple on country radio and quickly becoming a fan favorite. It currently reached the #5 spot on the Billboard U.S. Hot Country Songs chart and #14 on Country Airplay. It’s the lead-off track from her upcoming fifth studio album Storyteller, which is due out on October 23rd.

“Smoke Break” is currently the only tune available for download from her new record, Underwood recently released the full track listing via Instagram. She also performed the Southern-rock-inspired tune on the Tonight Show with Jimmy
