Luke Bryan’s ‘Rain Is a Good Thing’ leapfrogs Brad Paisley’s ‘Water’ to No. 1

Take a deep breath and sit down. There’s a new No. 1 song on the Billboard country chart this week, and it’s Luke Bryan’s “Rain Is a Good Thing.” It dislodged Brad Paisley’s lingering “Water” to seize the summit after a slow 27-week climb. But for those of you who like stability, Lady Antebellum’s Need You Now continues to crown the album chart, as it has for 24 consecutive weeks.

Trailer Choir’s Tailgate is the highest-debuting new album, popping up at No. 16. The only other first-timers are No Justice’s 2nd Avenue (No. 53) and Michael Martin Murphey’s Buckaroo Blue Grass II: Riding Song (No. 75).

Diamond Rio’s The Reason bounces back onto the chart at No. 71.

Reba McEntire’s “Turn on the Radio,” bowing at No. 54, is the week’s highest-charting new song, followed by Rocket Club’s “One Thing Beautiful” (No. 59).

There are two re-entering songs: Chris Young’s “Voices” (No. 56) and Jennette McCurdy’s “Not That Far Away” (No. 60).

Coming in behind Need You Now in the Top 5 albums are the Zac Brown Band’s The Foundation, Miranda Lambert’s Revolution, Carrie Underwood’s Play On and Jaron and the Long Road to Love’s Getting Dressed in the Dark, in that order.

Songs No. 2 through No. 5 are Paisley’s “Water,” Underwood’s “Undo It,” Jason Aldean’s “Crazy Town” and Clay Walker’s “She Won’t Be Lonely Long.”
