Following in the footsteps of fellow country stars, another country couple has announced that they are calling it quits. Jake Owen and his wife, Lacey Buchanan, have split after three years of marriage, the “Days of Gold” singer shared via Twitter on Friday, Aug. 7th.
“This is the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life,” Owen tweeted of his divorce announcement. “We appreciate your support and privacy in this matter.”
Included with Owen’s tweet was a longer statement from the country crooner, 33. “I wanted to let my fans know how much I’ve appreciated their support of not only my career, but my family as a whole,” he wrote. “Sadly, Lacey and I have decided to end our marriage.”
The “Anywhere With You” hitmaker and Buchanan, a model, whom he first met on the set of his video for “Eight Second Ride” got engaged in April 2012. The proposal came while on stage at his alma mater, Vero Beach High School in Vero Beach, Florida.
Just one month later, the lovebirds exchanged their vows on the beach at sunrise. “A best friend for life,” Owen tweeted at the time. “My face hurts from smiling. What a wonderful way to start the rest of my life.”
Our thoughts and prayers are with Jake and his wife as they go through this difficult time.
