Little Big Town Check Into WalMart’s Soundcheck Studio – Watch Here!

By: Tony Manfetano

So, check this out guys. WalMart’s Soundcheck, brought to us by T-Mobile, is a new platform for live music performances and interviews on the web. I know, I hadn’t heard either. And that’s why I’m here to tell you about it.  Rock, Latin, Pop, Country and Hip-Hop. Whatever you’re into Soundcheck has exclusive content from top artists ready to be beamed straight into those insatiable ears and eyes of yours.

This week the site features CMA Award winning and recent Grand Ole Opry inductees Little Big Town. Apropo of their new album “Pain Killer”, the first episode of this three part series focuses on the album’s first single “Day Drinking”.  A topic both near, and dare I say dear, to my heart.

In this fascinating first installment we get a behind the scenes story of how they came to “Pain Killer” as the record’s title and the inspiration for “Day Drinking”, penned by Troy Verges and Barry Dean along with LBT. Just between us I think we can figure out the inspiration. And come to think of it, I’m feeling pretty inspired.

Following the interview we get a live in studio performance of “Day Drinking”.  The tune is fun and relevant without straying from the boondocks groove, (the groovedocks, if you will), layered harmony and undeniably norm adrift style we love about LBT.  And thanks to Soundcheck we get an inside look at how the day is drunk. Karen Fairchild takes lead vocal duties on this care free and down right persuasive track which reminds us a song doesn’t need a cornucopia of loud guitars and cliches to be a party anthem.

I definitely recommend checking this out and perusing some of the other music Soundcheck has to offer. If you feel compelled to purchase the album you can do so via the WalMart Soundcheck page and even earn T-Mobile AmpedUp rewards points.

Here’s where we guild the lily my friends. We’re offering a chance to win a Little Big Town signed guitar, and keep up to date by checking countrymusicpride.com and following @WMSoundcheck on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go do research for my new song, “Afternoon Drinking”.
