Extra! Extra! Paisley Unites Genre and Saves Earth

Sometimes a member of our country music family puts a project out into the ether that is above reproach. The video for Brad Paisley’s “Crushin’ It” has proven itself just that.

I do not think that any fan would argue “Crushin’ It” is not exactly one of Brad’s best lyrical achievements but in true Paisley fashion he totally infuses a cool premise with cogent puns, a story, and crushes the video.

Brad completely hand drew the video which is a cartoon spoof of a super-hero team comprised entirely of country stars. Steel Moonshiner (Paisley), Captain Australia (Urban), and Agua Man (Chesney), are just a few of the characters rendered by Paisley’s parodic pencil. Included in the video is my personal favorite, an animated Florida Georgia Line as Beavis and Butthead.

By the end of the video Jimmy Kimmel makes an appearance while the league of country super heroes take action to ward off a blight of giant beer can robots.

One of the things I love about this ever boiling melting pot we call country music is that we are never afraid to poke fun or take ourselves too seriously. Imagine how great we could be if other artists took a page out of Brad’s book and spent a little more time on the musical product and not their hair product.
