‘Tis the season for giving, and the legendary group The Oak Ridge Boys are on a mission to give back to our nation’s servicemen and women. Tune in to watch them perform memorable hits and holiday-favorite tunes as they host “The American Legion Christmas Special,” which airs in multiple markets across the U.S. this December. The merry television event will help to raise awareness and funding for The American Legion, which is the nation’s largest wartime veterans organization committed to improving the lives and communities of veterans and service members.
Stand-out performances of songs like “Christmas Time’s A Comin’,” “Jingle Bells,” and “Christmas Cookies,” amidst a festive backdrop of snow-tipped evergreens and sparkling lights make “The American Legion Christmas Special” an event not to be missed as family and friends gather together this December. Special musical guests the Gatlin Brothers also appear, along with performers Mary Sarah and Martin Family Circus.
Long-time supporters of the military, The Oak Ridge Boys joined forces with The American Legion in 2014 to help raise awareness and support for better detection and treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder for veterans. Through this affiliation, they have also assisted with improving the VA benefits process, as well as education and career opportunities available for veterans once they return to civilian life.
In October 2015, the Grand Ole Opry members were inducted into the prestigious Country Music Hall of Fame…arguably the genre’s highest honor…for their iconic hits and ground-breaking contributions to country music.
Throughout their 40-year career, their exceptional four-part harmonies, energetic stage performances and mega hits have garnered them over 41 million records sold including two double-platinum selling and three platinum selling albums. The Oak Ridge Boys perform more than 150 shows each year, ranging from giant state fairs to intimate venues, including symphony halls, auditoriums, festivals and arenas around the world.
