Those Darlins, Justin Townes Earle and Others on Upcoming John Prine Tribute Album

What better time to honor a musical legend like John Prine than when he’s still very much alive and producing great music? (He has a new live album coming May 25 that we’ll review soon. Click HERE to download a free track.)

Broken Hearts & Dirty Windows will feature a dozen classic Prine compositions re-imagined by a selection of old favorites and young whippersnappers, including My Morning Jacket, Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, The Avett Brothers, Conor Oberst and The Mystic Valley Band, Old Crow Medicine Show, Lambchop, Drive-By Truckers, Deer Tick featuring Liz Isenberg, Justin Townes Earle, and Those Darlins.

Set for release by Oh Boy Records on June 22nd — they’ll begin a pre-sale on April 27th at www.musicfansdirect.com — this album promises to be more of a heartfelt thank-you note to the irreverent and lovable Mr. Prine than a tribute.

This should be interesting, as Country Music Pride favorites Those Darlins recorded their version of “Let’s Talk Dirty in Hawaiian,” which sounds tailor-made for them.
