Taylor Swift makes more chart history with new single

Taylor Swift will become the second female artist in the history of Billboard’s Hot 100 to debut multiple tracks in the Top 5 during a calendar year when her latest single, “Mine,” enters the chart at No. 3 this week. The official designation will occur Thursday (Aug. 12) when the trade publication finalizes its weekly chart rankings. “Mine” is the first single from Swift’s Speak Now album to be released Oct. 25. The track was released digitally on Aug. 4 and debuts at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Digital Songs chart after logging 297,000 downloads in less than a week. Swift’s “Today Was a Fairytale” debuted at No. 2 on the Hot 100 in February. Prior to Swift’s latest chart success, Mariah Carey was the only female with multiple Top 5 debuts in a single year. She debuted at No. 1 with “Fantasy” and a collaboration with Boyz II Men on “One Sweet Day” in 1995. The Hot 100 chart was established in 1958.

  1. I want to know who Taylor’s dating more than anyone else, but I feel bad. I’d rather keep the mystery about it, I want her to stay normal- including privacy, that’s what makes her so amazing and lets her write such relate-able songs.
