So, it wasn’t actually the end of the world as we know it. The Rapture, set for Saturday, May 21 by some religious leaders and an idea pounced upon by zealots and believers like so many zombies on a human brain, didn’t happen (unless, like me, you’re still here and the meek DID inherit the earth). But just in case, Sugarland, Matt Nathanson and Little Big Town were ready, covering R.E.M.’s “It’s the End of the World As We Know It” on May 21 in Holmdel, NJ.
The PNC Bank Arts Center was rocking as Nathanson channeled Michael Stipe with the rapid-fire lyrics, accompanied by the country stars. This high energy, rollicking finale would have been a great way to usher in the end of the world, but until then, enjoy the show.
