This past Thursday night, the best selling female artist in country music history- Shania Twain was the first female honored with the CMT Artist of a Lifetime Award. The 7th annual CMT Artists of the Year Awards show was previously taped live at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in downtown Nashville and aired October 20th at 9pm ET on CMT.

After a medley of three of her biggest hits- “Still the One”, “Any Man of Mine” and “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” by three of the music industry’s top artists- Meghan Trainor, Jill Scott & Kelsea Ballerini, Carrie Underwood presented Shania with the prestigious award.

Speculation of a new album had been growing as Shania has recently shared several photos of her in the studio to her social media accounts.  These rumors were confirmed on the red carpet prior to the show and again while Shania accepted her award.

“It’s the most diverse of the albums I’ve had”…spoke Shania of her 5th studio album.

Shania Twain has been an icon in country music while crossing into other genres with her edgy tunes, stunning music videos and iconic wardrobe since she broke onto the music scene with her debut album “Shania Twain” in 1993.  She followed with “The Woman in Me” in 1995, “Come on Over” in 1997 and “Up!” in 2002; each album proving time and again her value to the evolution of music.

Along with her killer voice Shania has also been a co-writer to many of her biggest hits including; “Any Man of Mine” Honey, I’m Home” “You’re Still the One” and “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!”.

A largely decorated artist, some of Twain’s biggest accolades include; 5 Grammy Awards, 27 BMI Songwriter Awards, induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and stars on both the Canada Walk of Fame and Hollywood Walk of Fame.  She is the only female artist in history with 3 consecutive albums certified Diamond by RIAA; meaning each album sold over 10 million copies.

The new, long-anticipated album has some pretty big shoes to fill but with Shania’s proven history of hit albums it leaves little doubt that it will be anything less than extraordinary.
