Scott Borchetta Joins FOX’s American Idol Roster

American Idol will be adding another big name to their roster! Big Machine Label Group President and CEO, Scott Borchetta, the man responsible for taking a chance on global pop superstar Taylor Swift and whose label also accounts for country superstars such as Tim McGraw, Florida Georgia Line, Reba and Rascal Flatts, will officially begin appearing on FOX’s American Idol’ tonight (Wednesday).

He will be taking the seat as the hit show’s new in-house Mentor. Borchetta will be responsible for guiding the show’s contestants throughout the competition. But his work won’t end there; it will extend beyond the show’s finale when the winner receives a record a deal with Big Machine Records.

Rolling Stone magazine hailed him as a “music mogul,” Borchetta’s career as a record label executive includes 150 singles and counting to #1 hits on the radio charts as well as assisted artists with more than 450 million in album sales.

Borchetta, was recently featured among the top 30 on this year’s Billboard “Power 100” list. And to keep in progression with his accomplishments, he will receive the Music Business Association’s most prestigious honor and the Presidential Award, this May. Clive Davis, Sylvia Rhone, Dick Clark, and Ahmet Ertegun are among those who have also received the award in the past.

Country Music Association named Borchetta the 2015 recipient of the Jo Walker-Meador Award for advocating and supporting country music’s marketing development in territories outside the U.S. This is the 2nd time he has been given recognition with the CMA honor.

American Idol airs Wednesday nights on FOX at 8/7 pm Central.
