Musicians On Call Brings The Grand Ole Opry To Hospitalized Veterans With Terri Clark

Multi-Platinum selling country star Terri Clark joined Musicians On Call (MOC), a nonprofit that brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities, to perform for Veterans at the Nashville VA hospital last night.

The visit was in partnership with the Grand Ole Opry, which is celebrating its 90th anniversary, and its Circle Throwdown, which brings impromptu performances with Opry artists and a replica of the famed six-foot Opry Circle of wood symbolizing the oak center stage at the Opry House to new locations across the country. Clark serenaded Veterans with her hits including “Now That I Found You” and “No Fear” at MOC’s Bedside Performance Program, where volunteer musicians across the country have delivered the healing power of music to nearly half a million patients, families and caregivers.

Being a part Musicians On Call for our Veterans was one of the most gratifying and joyful experiences I’ve had in my life as a musician,” said Terri Clark. “It’s easy to take for granted what we enjoy and do every day, but moments like these are what it’s really all about.  The universal language and a magical moment in time.”

Terri Clark 2Clark’s visit had her performing at the bedsides of over 35 Veterans in the Nashville VA hospital delivering the healing power of music. One patient, so moved by her performance and visit, even joined her side for several stops to sing along. To date, MOC volunteers have performed for over 23,000 Veterans and family members and climbing.

We’re so fortunate to have country music icon Terri Clark donate her time and talent to support the healing power of music for our Veterans,” said Pete Griffin, MOC President. “We’re proud to partner with the Opry to make moments like this even more special.”

Musicians On Call (MOC) was founded in 1999 at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in NYC by Michael Solomon and Vivek Tiwary, with the mission of bringing live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities ranging from children’s hospitals to adult facilities, VA hospitals and hospices.

To date, its volunteers have played for nearly half a million people in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., and Baltimore, with additional cities being continuously added. Musicians On Call continues its mission through room-to-room hospital performances by both local musicians and an esteemed list of national celebrities. MOC supporters over the years include Pharrell, Bruce Springsteen, Ed Sheeran, Lady Antebellum, James Taylor, Jessie J, Justin Timberlake, Gavin DeGraw and Imagine Dragons.
