Mitchell Tenpenny’s “Alcohol You Later” Blends Emotional Heartbreak With Clever Wordplay

Riser House Records artist Mitchell Tenpenny recently stopped by City Winery NYC for a Cellar Session, performing “Alcohol You Later,” a song on his forthcoming EP, ‘Linden Ave.’

Tenpenny approaches the trite story of a lonely drunk phoning his ex on the track. While the majority of the lyrics detail the melancholy feeling of heartbreak and yearning for a lost love, Tenpenny offsets the gravity of his emotional outpour with a fun play on words in the chorus. Listeners can almost hear the flirtatious glint in Tenpenny’s eye and the coy tilt of his head in his delivery of the line to his ex.

“Alcohol You Later” will be available this Friday, April 28th via all platforms.
