Margo Price dropped a new song this week called “Leftovers.” It’s part of the inaugural installment of Amazon Music’s new “Produced By” series, spotlighting the work of today’s community of producers working behind the scenes to develop the best in music.
The release elevates the work of Grammy-winning producer Matt Ross-Spang (who also produced Price’s two full-length LPs).
I wrote ‘Leftovers’ based on the kinds of people that don’t have any original ideas of their own. It could be anything from stealing a song idea, to copying someone else’s style, or dating an ex of a good friend…..I also just really wanted to rhyme ‘asshole’ with ‘casserole’ and this seemed like the perfect opportunity,” says Price.
Recorded in RCA’s legendary Studio A with Price’s ace touring band, the new track is available for streaming here!
“Leftovers” is the first song in Amazon Music’s new “Produced By” series with other new Ross-Spang productions by John Prine, William Bell, and Al Green premiering this week. It’s also the first new material to be released from Price since her 2017 album ‘All American Made’ (Third Man Records), which blanketed year-end lists from Rolling Stone to EW, and earned her three nominations – for Artist, Album and Song of the Year – at this week’s 2018 Americana Honors and Awards.
Price kicks off her first-ever Australian tour later next month, and will return to the US for select dates later this fall.
