Kristian Bush Debut Solo Album, Southern Gravity, Available April 7

We are all looking forward to spring.  Rejuvenation and new life.  As colorful flora paints the vanilla landscape.  As we slowly drip from our tenements like melting icicles here in Nashville, spring holds an additional meaning. New music. And one of the most anticipated albums of 2015 is Kristian Bush’s debut solo project Southern Gravity, available April 7th.

Do not be confused by Big&Rich’s latest release entitled simply, Gravity. Then again, John and Kenny have always appealed to a wider audience. Hey, forces of nature and physics belong to everyone, man!

I digress. Kristian gave us a little taste of what to expect with last year’s single, “Trailer Hitch”. I really dig that song. Anytime a fun groove can be applied to reverent lyrics, count me in.

Word on the street is that Bush teamed up with producer friend Tom Tapley, and Byron Gallimore, of Sugarland, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill fame, to bring us a groove heavy mainstream country sound. (And by “word on the street” I’m referring to the press release I read it from. Although, it would be hilarious if news outlets hired a vagrant to draw headlines in chalk on the street overnight.)

“Trailer Hitch”, landed itself on many a ‘best of’  list, including Rolling Stone Country’s Top 25 Of 2014.  The song’s inspiring lyrics also begot a partnership with Goodwill Industries. The #GiveItAway campaign encourages people to donate to their local branch whenever possible. I just dropped a bag of clothes off last weekend on my way to church. I figured that was a prepayment on all the “big game” debauchery I was going to get into that evening.

You guys probably only recognize Kristian Bush as the fedora laden male member of hit group, Sugarland. The singer, songwriter, producer and musician has actually been at it for twenty years, or so. He began with folk-rock duo Billy Pilgrim in the 90’s. Aside from the multiple mainstream awards garnered with Sugarland, Kristian Bush has been the recipient of six BMI songwriting awards. Which is good news since he boasts a writing credit on every one of the tracks on Southern Gravity.

Bush will be continuing his Put Your Soul In It Tour into 2015 with appearances at The Ryman, Bluebird Cafe, and the Grand Ole Opry, before heading down under to Australia. Check KristianBush.com for details.
