Kings of Leon Return to Roots with Back Down South

The current kings of rock are returning to their southern roots. Today, Kings of Leon debuted the video for the country-tinged Back Down South. The song is a departure from their hard driving arena rock anthems. Written while recording their fifth album in New York, Back Down South was inspired by time spent away from their Nashville, Tennessee homes. The video shows scenes reminiscent of the average teenager’s life in a sleepy southern town. I am almost positive they stole some scenes from my high school memory bank. Directed by Casey McGrath, the video contains around 80 lucky fan club members who were invited to the set to be a part of the down home video shoot. Viewers are even treated to shots of Matthew Followill playing the lap steel guitar.
