Interview: “Better Now” After Getting To Know Jericho Woods

The up-and-coming bluegrass band Jericho Woods has definitely not forgotten their roots…recently releasing their latest single “Better Now” these guys prove they know how to keep it real and give their fans a constant string of hit after hit.

It is always an honor to introduce our fans to new talent and trust me when we tell you that you are going to love everything about Jericho Woods. We recently had the chance to chat with the guys about their latest single, their musical influence, the dues they’ve had to pay and the craziest place they’ve performed!

Check out what they had to say here…

Country Music Pride: You are getting ready to release your newest single “Better Now”…give us a glimpse into what helped bring this song to fruition for you.

Jericho Woods: This song is really just a reflection of finally being able to focus on our craft and play music for a living. We had juggled jobs and careers and family responsibilities for so long, that being able to wake up and take on the day as a musician was freeing and liberating. So…that’s where Better Now came from.

Country Music Pride: Having a more edgy bluegrass sound, who would you say has had the biggest influence on your music?

Jericho Woods: Bluegrass has definitely had an influence on us, but besides our cousin blood harmonies, our music is a whole lot more kin to Mellancamp and Petty than Monroe. We do have a fiddle…but he plays rock and roll fiddle lol!

Country Music Pride: What are some of the “dues” you’ve had to pay for “paying your dues” as up and comers?

Jericho Woods: Besides just playing tons of shows all over for the last three years, the real dues have been paid by our families. The sacrifices they have made, and continue to make, have been the difference. We couldn’t do this without all the support we receive.

Country Music Pride: Have you received any accolades from any groups or persons that you highly value?

Jericho Woods: Well, one of the best compliments we’ve gotten was from Greg Martin of The Kentucky Headhunters, he said he was proud of our music and that we “hadn’t got above our raisin‘”. And being able to share the stage with guys we admire like Sturgill Simpson and Dwight Yoakam have been an honor.

Country Music Pride: If you could tour with any artist of your choice, who would it be and why?

Jericho Woods: Oh man, there are a ton! We feel like Zac Brown fans are part of our tribe, we love how Eric Church supports and takes out different types of acts, but a dream tour would be if Darius put Hootie back together!! Lol!

Country Music Pride: How did you come up with the unique name Jericho Woods for your band?

Jericho Woods: Jericho comes from the story of Joshua and the Battle of Jericho, and Woods has an earthy feel. We wanted the name to be a Marlboro Man type of image… an alter ego.

Country Music Pride: What has been the craziest place you have ever performed?

Jericho Woods: Once we played a show floating down the Ohio River on the riverboat The Belle of Louisville. That was pretty rad!

You are going to want to keep your eye on these guys, they are sure to be the next big thing!
