This just in, a statement from Those Darlins:
“Nikki Darlin suffers injury, postponing Australia tour and Memphis show; Nashville’s Dead show this Saturday 5/22 becomes fundraiser to aid with medical bills.
“This past weekend, Nikki Darlin of Those Darlins broke both bones in her left forearm after performing Friday at The Nelsonville Music Festival in Ohio.
“What happened? Darlins wear cowboy boots. Cowboy boots and country fields can make even the baddest darlin come down hard… and Nikki is bad. She will have surgery later this week and recover throughout June.
“Unfortunately, this has lead to the postponement of their highly anticipated Australian tour with Wagons. The band apologizes to their Aussie fans, promising to announce new dates soon, and encourages everyone to still head out to the scheduled shows and party with Wagons. “The Darlins’ scheduled show in Memphis this Thursday, May 20th has also been rescheduled for Saturday, July 10th at The Hi-Tone.
“Better news: This Saturday’s gig at Mercy Lounge in Nashville is still on, and is now a fundraiser to help pay off the hospital bills incurred from Nikki’s injury. Sponsored by local scenesters Nashville’s Dead (nashvillesdead.com), this Saturday was intended to showcase a new, wilder Nashville sound and scene that Nashville’s Dead has spearheaded. The three other members of Those Darlins (Jessi, Kelley and Sheriff Lin) have decided to pull off a killer set for this show, playing all they can pull off without Nikki, and filling her void with other local musicians.
“Beyond this one-night-only configuration of the band that promises to play both Darlins originals as well as a some surprise numbers, Natural Child, Pujol and SO Jazzy will be performing as scheduled. Nashville’s Dead and Curse of the Drinking Class will also DJ. The first 200 people who arrive at the Saturday show will receive a pair of the classic aviator style Blublockers (who will also be filming at this show for their newest infomercial!
