As if Blake Shelton hasn’t done enough, he has now taken reign as King of the Country Music Charts. And it’s not a bad place to be, especially when you’re joined by fellow country artists at the top of the charts!
Shelton’s duet with close friend and fellow Warner Bros. Label mate, Ashley Monroe hit the #1 spot this week on both the Billboard and Mediabase country charts. This marks Shelton’s 14th repeated chart-topping hit in both polls. The genre record in the monitored airplay era is the first #1 for Monroe and now makes 19 total #1 hits to date for Shelton.
“It’s absolutely unbelievable to have my 19th No. 1 song and 14th in a row — I’m blown away,” states Shelton. “But what I’m most excited about with this particular song is that it’s the launch of Ashley Monroe’s solo career and she’s so talented and deserves this opportunity. That’s really the highlight of this one for me is to see her finally getting the credit she’s deserved for a long time.”
This marks his second #1 single and Academy of Country Music Awards-nominated hit from his latest album “Bringing Back The Sunshine” for the voice coach, CMA Award Entertainer of the Year and reigning five-time Male Vocalist of the Year. Shelton started the eighth season of “The Voice” in February and will hopefully gain Team Blake’s fifth win.
“The whole album is searching for parts of me that I think have…not gotten lost along the way, but stuff that I haven’t addressed in my music as much as I used to, whether it’s drinking songs, heartbreak songs or songs about how people treat you,” Shelton recently said during an interview with Rolling Stone Country. “But after a while, as a country singer, I gotta get back to singing about getting drunk because there’s people out there — and I’ve been one of them — that have had their heart broken, or they’ve had a tough day at work, or they get stabbed in the back.”

Shelton is one busy guy; he will also be co-hosting the 50th ACM Awards with Luke Bryan at the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas where he is also nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year. And to top it all off he will be playing select major country music festival dates throughout the summer.
