Blackberry Smoke Release DVD “Live from the Georgia Theatre”

It is safe to say things are going well for the Atlanta-based band Blackberry Smoke. The Southern Ground rockers have released their first concert DVD, “Blackberry Smoke Live at the Georgia Theatre.” Shot on August 5, 2011, the DVD features performances with Southern Ground label head Zac Brown, multi-instrumentalist Clay Cook and Wet Willie’s Jimmy Hall. The historic theatre serves as the ideal setting to showcase the musicality of the long-haired southern rockers.

2011 proved to be a remarkable year for Blackberry Smoke. The band was thrilled to join Southern Ground Records after years of strife and uncertainty, being picked up and dropped by various labels. The years of unrest have made their success that much sweeter. Recently, BBS played to a packed house in a raucous homecoming show at Wild Bills in Duluth. To the crowds’ delight, they were joined on stage by fellow Georgian Zac Brown for a stirring rendition of “Restless.” You also may have spotted the notoriously hard working band jamming on the Audience channel (check local listings). The network aired footage from a summer concert in a one hour special as part of the channel’s acclaimed concert series, dubbing BBS as fan favorites. The year was capped off on a recent tour stop when the band shared the stage with music legend Billy Gibbons. No doubt, the DVD release is one of the brightest highlights of the year, marking a significant milestone for the relentlessly ambitious performers. Their unwavering perseverance is paying off in a spectacular way.
