It’s beginning to look a lot like a “Tennessee Christmas” for Amy Grant. The Grammy winning singer released the Christmas video for “To Be Together” today. Grant reveals the song was inspired by her daughter’s automobile accident…
[Songwriter] Chris [Eaton] and I had just finished writing that song when my daughter Sarah and her boyfriend were in an awful automobile accident,” Amy explained. “During those tough hours in the emergency room and the days that followed in the hospital, that chorus cycled through my brain on repeat.”
Grant’s offering is a solid mix of both traditional Christmas classics and contemporary tunes on her new album. Fans will take delight in Grant’s sweet interpretation of, “Joy to the World, and savor her rendition of the timeless classic, “White Christmas.”
But listeners will also get a dose of realism in songs like, “Melancholy Christmas,” and, “Another Merry Christmas.” Grant chose to include these unique songs on her album in order to portray the lonely sadness that many people feel during the holiday season.
According to Grant, “her hope is that those who are struggling will find a sense of peace by realizing that they are not alone,” after listening to the songs.
