Alison Krauss and Conor Oberst Added To The Life & Songs of Emmylou Harris’ Line-Up

The Life & Songs of Emmylou Harris: An All-Star Concert Celebration honoring Emmylou Harris will take place Saturday, January 10th in Washington, D.C. Several impressive performers have already been announced and the list just keeps on growing. Alison Krauss and Conor Oberfest are among the latest performers announced to join the prestigious line up.  The concert taping is guaranteed to be a once-in-a-lifetime event honoring one of the most influential musicians of our time. The concert will take place at the DAR Constitution Hall.

“Having Alison Krauss and Conor Oberst on this show takes it to an entirely new level,” said Keith Wortman, Executive Producer of the show. “It is a testament to how special Emmylou Harris and her music is to everyone.”

In addition to the newest performers announced, the concert features a line-up some of music’s top starts including the one and only Emmylou Harris, Kris Kristofferson, Joan Baez, Sheryl Crow, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Mavis Staples, Martina McBride, John Hiatt, Lucinda Williams, Vince Gill, Chris Hillman, Trampled By Turtles, Steve Earle, Patty Griffin, Rodney Crowell, Iron & Wine, Shawn Colvin, Shovels & Rope, Sara Watkins and The Milk Carton Kids just to name a few. All those who will be part of this remarkable evening are meaningful as they each have a great deal shared history with Emmyl0u.

“Emmylou Harris is a once-in-a-lifetime music artist,” adds Wortman. “With the addition of Vince Gill, Chris Hillman, Herb Pedersen and Daniel Lanois, whom all mean so much to her, we have joined together to create a once-in-a-lifetime concert event in her honor.”

Harris is known as much for her eloquently straightforward songwriting as for her outstandingly expressive singing.  She has been admired through her career for her talent as an artist and song aficionado. Taking country radio by storm in the 1970’s, she also established herself as the first songwriter of her generation by selling over 15 million records, gathering 13 Grammy Awards, three CMA Awards, and two Americana Awards. With forty years of a fulfilling career behind her, Harris continues to share the hard-earned wisdom that hopefully with age and time, all the while she has never stopped looking ahead.
