Ahhh the side stage! More specifically, The Palomino! It takes me back to 2007 … open spaces, minimal beer lines, puke free Porta Potties and people who genuinely love country music. If there’s one thing I’ve observed over the last ten years, it’s that there has definitely been a sway in the Stagecoach crowd. It’s become more about the party and less about the music…. it’s become Ragecoach.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the whole country music festival experience, every single little bit of it; but when you find yourself standing behind a girl in the beer line who doesn’t know who Miranda Lambert is (true story!) or next to three shirtless boys dressed up like ACDC (wrong weekend!) it’s hard not to get a little frustrated.
That’s why I love the side stage. For me, it’s a no brainer to make a decision like Lynyrd Skynyrd over Brantley Gilbert (2014), Merle Haggard over Jake Owen or George Thorogood over The Band Perry. If you listen closely to what performers say between songs, you’d know that people like Brantley and Jake credit people like Merle and George for their love of music.
People at the side stage get it! They know who they’re watching, the songs that their signing and they know it’s their chance to see a legend. Its smaller, its quant and its music we grew up with. The crowd loves it and the performers feed off the energy! You can feel that everyone is having a phenomenal time. You walk out high on musical vibes and when it was Willie in 2007, a little something extra. Emmylou Harris, Kris Kristofferson, Kenny Rogers, ZZ Top…. The list of who I’ve had the privilege of rocking out to at the Palomino goes on and on. Sure, Big and Rich are great (2008), but watching George Jones (rest in peace) – priceless. If you love music, you’re never disappointed.
So, if you’re at Stagecoach next year and you find yourself next to a drunken girl with one boot on, crying to her friends about how she “just wants to hear Tim McGraw sing Drunk on a Plane” and you wonder: Why the hell am I here? Go to the side stage. It will restore your faith.

Dec09 Thanks for discussing your ideas. I would also like to say that video games have been ever beorfe evolving. Today’s technology and innovative developments have made it easier to create reasonable and enjoyable games. These types of entertainment video games were not that sensible when the actual concept was first of all being tried. Just like other styles of technological know-how, video games way too have had to progress via many years. This is testimony towards fast development of video games.

I just post a short excerpt of the last CCSD meeting where Peter Chaldecott describes some of the water history of Cambria. I believe that to be accurate…at least that is what the CCSD knows. The whole point of this site is to get the truth out and extinguish the rumors and re-writing of history. It is also a venue for all. So when someone adds their version, if you know different, please, by all means, correct the record!
