Ready for the feel-good song of the summer?
There are a few rules to what constitutes a summer song. First, the song must reference the beach/body of water/lake/island. Second, the song should make you feel like you need a sunglasses, sunscreen and a cocktail. Last, the song of the summer must feature island rock legend, Jimmy Buffett! Look no further than the Zac Brown Band & Jimmy Buffett’s new collaboration Knee Deep. Knee Deep is sure to be the latest smash from ZBB’s You Get What You Give. Zac Brown Band and Jimmy Buffett first teamed up in late 2009 to record CMT’s Crossroads, a one hour special on CMT that combines a country artist with artists from various music genres.
The musical mesh of ZBB and Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band was magical. The laid-back Georgia boys played seamlessly on the reggae and beach inspired Buffett tunes. Buffett told the invitation-only crowd he saw much of himself in the rising country stars. The CMT Crossroads special was the beginning of a special relationship between the two artists.
Penned by songwriter Wyatt Durette, Knee Deep captures the nostalgic feeling of troubles being swept away once you reach the shore: “Wishing I was knee deep in the water somewhere / Got the blue sky breeze and it don’t seem fair / Only worry in the world is the tide gonna reach my chair / Sunrise there’s a fire in the sky / Never been so happy / Never felt so high / And I think I might have found me / my own kind of paradise.”
