Yonder Mountain String Band Take “Joyful and Irreverent” (LA Times) Live Show on The Road for Summer Tour

Yonder Mountain String Band, whose “joyful and irreverent” (LA Times) live shows “leave you worn out, danced-out, grinning and begging for more” (Tulsa World), kicked off their nationwide tour this past weekend with three shows in Telluride, CO. They’re on the road through September, including several dates supporting Dave Matthews Band.

The four-piece band of Adam Aijala (guitar), Jeff Austin (mandolin), Dave Johnston (banjo) and Ben Kaufmann (bass) play marathon 3-hour sets, blending one song into the next and improvising on stage, so that no two shows are alike. Fans this summer can expect Yonder Mountain originals, their take on some classic bluegrass tunes, and a few songs from their 5th studio album ‘The Show,’ due out Sept. 1.

The quartet enjoys a huge following from people of all ages, has sold out venues as big as Red Rocks (CO) and played to over 120,000 fans in the U.S. alone in 2008. They will play Red Rocks again on August 28th to celebrate the release of ‘The Show’ with their hometown crowd.
