Tom Morello Observes May Day By Giving Away ‘Union Town’ FREE To Fans

For the third consecutive year on May 1st, Tom Morello gave away ‘Union Town’ for free digitally in observance of May Day, also known as International Workers Day, to celebrate the struggles of workers around the world.

“The May Day giveaway of the ‘Union Town’ record has become a yearly tradition. My hope is that these songs, some original and some classic union fighting songs, will continue to encourage and inspire those standing up for justice and dignity in the workplace.”

The collection of pro-union anthems, including “16 Tons” which has not been available for free previously, can be downloaded today only at morellomayday.com. The Teamsters Union, Unite Here, Coalition of Immokalee Workers, LAANE, UFCW, NATCA, ACLU California and National Nurses United/California Nurses Association will all support in promoting the free download.

Union Town was originally released by Morello as The Nightwatchman in 2011 with profits benefitting The American Votes Labor Unity Fund which supports the unified efforts of a broad coalition of national labor organizations to defend workers and their unions against state legislation, ballot measures and executive orders that will undermine or destroy their rights.
