Super Bowl XLVI Entertainment Lineup Promises Something for Everyone

It’s been a week of send offs and preparations, media blitz and practices, picks, plays and predictions. Yes! it’s Super Bowl Sunday – one of the most intense games and intense days in entertainment scheduling. An extreme culmination of talent collaborating to capture sports, music and commercial fans everywhere.

The “Boys of Fall” are in their final showdown. Super Bowl XLVI kicks off Sunday February 5, 2012 at 6:30 pm ET on the turf of Lucas Oil Stadium between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants. But there’s more to this day of competition than football.

Marketing and advertising gurus will be cashing in on some of the shortest, most expensive segments of the day, perched on the edge of commercial warfare wondering which marketing genius will take home the Ogilvy Award for Best Super Bowl Commercial Advertising.

Music moguls will be tuning in for a phenomenal formation of artistic entertainment from pre-game to half-time to post-game performances.

And then there’s Da Supa Bowl – wherein the Pat’s will reign, fans will fight and New York will be cuttin’ a check for a shipment of Super Bowl hats and tees they can’t wear. Okay. I’m just kidding. I had to throw a flag here on the field. I’m from Boston. Unfortunately though, the only thing I know about football is No. 45 broke my heart. And the only time I’ve ever been to Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriot’s, has been for concerts. I’ll be wishing everyone well, cheering on my home team; but you can bet your nachos and guacamole dip I’ll be tuned in to the marketing, music and advertising segments of the day.

Ah yes, there’s definitely a little something for everyone.

Now, seeing as I’m a writer, I can promise you that I will be curiously critiquing advertising creativity to see who touches down in the commercial end zone. But I’m also a music junkie, a country music writer and an all around music lover. Soooo …. I will definitely be tuned in to support artists brave enough to hit that vocal playing field where the world waits to pounce on the smallest of fumbles.

Indeed Super Bowl Sunday is a serious day of competition !

THE SUPER BOWL XLVI ENTERTAINMENT LINEUP IS:

  • Pregame Performances . . .
Country couple and superstars in their own right, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert will sing “America the Beautiful” together as part of Super Bowl XLVI pregame festivities at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday. The performance will be televised live on NBC prior to kickoff. In addition to Miranda and Blake’s beautiful performance, Lenny Kravitz and The Fray will be part of the pregame festivities at Lucas Oil Stadium.
  • National Anthem . . .
Kelly Clarkson makes her Super Bowl debut singing the national anthem, adding to the admirable list of performers through the years who have done the honors at the mic. Clarkson certainly has the vocals to carry this chord. But be sure to send Kelly lotsa love and support as this is truly one of the most honorable yet most difficult performances of an artist’s career.
  • Halftime Show . . .
Madonna will pumping up the crowd and entertaining the viewers during her performance at the halftime show. The Material Girl is expected to be joined by Nicki Minaj and M.I.A., as well as LMFAO and Cee Lo Green.
  • Post Game Wrap-Up Premieres . . .
The vocal competition series “The Voice” returns for Season 2 with an hour-long debut following Super Bowl XLVI on Sunday, February 5, 2012 (10-11 pm ET – time approximate). “The Voice” will resume its regular day and time on Monday, February 6, 2012 (8-10 pm ET).
  • Following “The Voice” (Monday) Katharine McPhee heats up the screen in the highly-anticipated Steven Spielberg produced musical drama “Smash” which premieres Monday, February 6, 2012 (10-11 p.m. ET).

All right. So, stock up on nachos and chips, beer and guacamole dip. I’ll be sinfully indulging in red wine and gourmet popcorn. Enjoy ALL the festivities … sports, music and advertising.
