“Spectacle: Elvis Costello with …”

The Sundance Channel is well into the second season of its critically acclaimed music/talk original series “Spectacle: Elvis Costello with…”. This week — Jan. 20, 10 p.m. EST — features the first of a two-part episode with guest Bruce Springsteen.

In the series, executive produced by Sir Elton John, Costello interviews his musical guests and then lets them perform. On a recent episode, he even constructed a once-in-a-lifetime jam band by interviewing, separately, Nick Lowe, Richard Thompson, Levon Helm, and Allen Toussaint. After each interview, the guests slipped one-by-one into Elvis’s stage band, The Imposters, and closed out the show with a stellar and memorable performance. Not something you see every day. And that’s just what you can expect with Elvis Costello’s Spectacle.

Past interviews and performances include John Prine, Lyle Lovett, Rosanne Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Diana Krall, John Mellencamp, and Ray LaMontagne.
