Rumor Mills are Churning – Keith Urban Leaving his Judging Seat Tonight on American Idol

Rumor has it that it’s apparently more difficult for Keith Urban to merely sit back, watch and play judge on American Idol than thought. So the American Idol Season 12 keith-urban-frustratedjudge, will be leaving his judging seat behind for a short time this evening to perform on the show live !

“Psyched to play on American Idol…. I hope Randy and the girls put me through !!! -KU”

With Keith having recently returned from the Land Down Under wrapping up the Australia leg of his tour, it’s been a while since we’ve seen a live performance here in the states.

But the rumor mills are churning – this time in Urban’s favor. And the grinding gossip is, Will Keith Urban perform a single from his untitled, not sure of a release date but highly anticipated upcoming album?

Billboard.com reports that:

“Urban is recording a new album. But it’s not finished and a release date has yet to be set. He’s likely to have a new single before the (Light The Fuse) tour launches July 18 in Cincinnati, though several songs are vying for that role.”

Keith’s been juggling between professional schedules of his own, songwriters he’s collaborating with on his new album and new producers (to Urban’s work) that Urban began working with on this project. But Keith’s reportedly recorded 16 tracks to date so an album is definitely in the making, which means there are singles out there fighting for first release. And Keith IS scheduled to perform on American Idol tonight. And Billboard tells us :

“Urban would at least like to get the single decided and be able to perform it on “Idol” before the season comes to an end. But that little promotional benefit is secondary to simply getting it done.”

Well, it sure would be nice to hear something new this evening from Keith Urban during his live American Idol performance. But I agree with Keith that having new music to take with him on tour and to give to his fans should be a top professional priority.

“With or without [that Idol exposure], I just would love to have new music out,” he says. “It’s time.”

So I guess we’ll have to wait for the midnight hour – or at least 8:00 pm (EDT) tonight when American Idol airs to hear whether Keith performs a new release from his untitled, upcoming album or a gem from the past!

But hey let’s “Light The Fuse” and start an Urban fire. What would you like to watch Keith perform tonight on Idol, a new single or a gem from the past? And if from the past, which song would you like to see him perform?

Thank you for taking the time to share with us here, 1urbanfan27 !! and for supporting Keith Urban.

Well, we all know by now that he didn’t perform a new song from his upcoming album. But if it’s not ready yet then I have to admit, I’m glad he didn’t rush it to the mike just to get it out there. He’s always been very meticulous about his work so I’m glad to see he hasn’t lost that quality.

So how did you like his performance !

I don’t think there is any truth to Keith leaving Idol simply because he really seems to be embracing it completely. He looks like he is enjoying himself every time the camera focuses on him, even when he is giving out a less than stellar critique to a contestant. I was telling my co-worker that he really rounds out the panel and that the producers did an awesome job bringing him on the show. He’s not like Mariah Carey who nine times out of 10 doesn’t really say anything at all.

    Sefija,

Thank you very much for such a supportive comment in Keith’s favor. I couldn’t agree with you more, he is definitely enjoying himself and definitely giving out honest yet compassionately delivered critique.

And no, he will not be leaving Idol this season. The article was that he would be leaving his “Idol seat that evening to take the stage”. I do hope you were able to see his live performance that night on American Idol. It was wonderful seeing Keith perform live. It’s been a while. And here’s hoping you are able to catch Keith in your hometown on his 2013 tour.

Thank you for your support of American Idol, Keith Urban and Country Music Pride.

Thankyou for taking the time to share with us Suzy Rhoades and thankyou for supporting the growing “Keith Urbanski is a Has Been” movement.

    Suzy,
I’m sorry to hear you were not pleased with Keith Urban’s “Idol” position. Most viewers that watch actually comment they feel Keith was right on target. His knowledge of the industry, music and talent shows certainly put him in a position of being a strong judge, able to really assist the contestants.

And if you were able to re-watch any of the footage, I would have to disagree with you that he was not supportive. I think Urban did a very good job of pointing out honest points to all of the contestants, hoping to assist them on their path to the stage. And he was “most supportive” of Kree, which is in contrast to your comment. In fact, went all the way to the Opry stage with her.

Were you perhaps watching another show?

But we all have our artist likes and dislikes. Thankfully there’s so many artists and genres of music out there that you should be able to find one you connect to as it appears Urban just isn’t doing it for you.

Good luck on your musical search. I hope you find your artist.

To the July 31, 2013 commenter (I believe your name came in as hahahaha555@) which seems odd that you’d not post your name for all the world to see ! You can’t be heard if you have no voice.

But I’m sorry you also aren’t finding Keith Urban an artist you feel you wish to support. Keith’s traveled many a path both personally and professionally. And while it’s always nice for fans to have an artist stay the way they know them, sometimes an artist needs to venture in a new direction to find their way back home.

Perhaps if you keep your apparent previous support of Keith in the forefront of your mind it will reach out to the ethers and help him find a way to return to your musical heart.

I like to support all the artists – however they move along their personal and professional paths ! Do join us …
