More Than A Memory: Garth Brooks Returns To Southern California

It may have been 20 years since Garth Brooks has come to Southern California but he promised that it won’t be another 20 years till he comes back again…

After taking a hiatus to spend time with his family and raise his children, the country super star brought back 90’s country music at its finest at the Honda Center in Anaheim Saturday night. It was the second of three sold out shows this weekend and was definitely worth the wait!

Thanks for letting us come back to the great state of California,” Brooks kick off the show saying. “It’s been 20 years so thank you for coming back as well.”

Brooks, at 50+ years old showed no signs of slowing down just yet as he ran all over the stage and got the evening started off right with his “old stuff”…and truth be told was the whole reason we were there, right? With his timeless hits like “Rodeo,” “The Beaches of Cheyenne,” Two Pina Coladas,” “Papa Loved Mama” and an energetic performance of “Ain’t Going Down ‘Til the Sun Comes Up” the crowd was on their feet and singing along to every word.

He continued playing hit after hit from “Unanswered Prayers” to “The Thunder Rolls.” When he started “In Another’s Eyes,” Brooks was immediately joined by his wife Trisha Yearwood…in what was one of the most touching duets of the evening.

Yearwood took the stage for a few of her own songs “XXX’s & OOO’s”, “How Do I Love”, “PrizeFighter” and “She’s In Love With The Boy”, before she handed it back to Brooks as he played what he referred to as his “favorite” song to perform on tour, “Callin’ Baton Rouge.”

Brooks played hit after never ending hit, we defiantly could have stayed for another three hours and not get tired of listening to him sing. Picking out fans with posters in the crowd that requested some of his “less” popular songs, he sang intimately to those who’s request held special meaning to them.
