Country music icon Merle Haggard has been hospitalized in California for treatment of a recurring stint of double pneumonia.
His publicist stated on Tuesday that Haggard has had to postpone his concert dates for March.
The 78-year-old singer recently canceled some dates in February as well because he was still feeling weak from his previous bout of pneumonia in both lungs.
Right before he called off his February dates, Haggard spoke with Rolling Stone about his fight with pneumonia…
I had a pain that went all the way around from my belly button all the way around to my back. I asked the doctor, ‘What was that pain?’ He said, ‘It was death.'”
The statement said that his doctors wanted him to take one more month off the road so that he could rest and fully recover.
Haggard expected to return to the road for his April 7th event at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
We wish Merle Haggard a quick and full recovery!
