Lady Antebellum “Lady Antebellum” Capitol

by LK

All hats are off to Lady Antebellum for their stellar self-titled debut album. The group presents a rare and refreshing male-female lead combination that works amazingly well. Both are talented individual performers whose voices combine without competing or overpowering. Though title track “Love Don’t Live Here” features Charles Kelley’s smooth, yet slightly rustic vocals, many other tracks feature the work of Hillary Scott. Fans of Miranda Lambert will likely enjoy Scott’s rich tone, which is spot-on throughout the album.

Though the band became known for playful goodbye song “Love Don’t Live Here”, the album has much more to give. From beginning to end, it’s chock full of country goodies. The naughty “Just Lookin for a Good Time” is a back and forth narrative of a couple desiring a fling without ramifications (good luck) that is wonderfully executed and a fun sing-along, the perfect warmup to a girl/boy’s night out. Another winner is “South of the Mason-Dixon Line” a solid, romantic song. The album as a whole is very engaging and addicting. This group is a serious contender in the music market; look for them to be making waves for a long time.
