Kelly Clarkson Covers Little Big Town’s ‘Girl Crush’ Live in Concert

Kelly Clarkson is not shy about the fact that she is a huge fan of Little Big Town. The singer covered their single ‘Girl Crush’ at a recent concert in California. Clarkson was performing a free concert in Cerritos on Saturday, November 22nd to celebrate the grand opening of the new Microsoft store at Los Cerritos center. She could not help herself by adding in the catchy tune to her set list, which is from LBT’s newest album, ‘Pain Killer.’

“I love this group…anybody like Little Big Town here? Their new album is so freakin’ good. It’s so well done. This song is so cool. I think chicks really get this. I’m not a dude, so I don’t know — you might get it, too.” Clarkson told the crowd during the show.

The song is cleverly written from the perspective of a woman who wants all of the qualities of her romantic rival for herself, “‘Cause maybe then you’d want me just as much.” Clarkson’s version was relaxed and upbeat, as she changed a lyric line to tell her guitarist to ease up on the tempo: “I’ve got a hard rush and it ain’t slowing down — but we could if we wanted to.” She showed off her spectacular voice in full range as she built the end of the song to a big finish.
