Keith Urban Joins Dan Rather In All New Episode Of “The Big Interview” December 13th

keith-urbanAXS TV presents an all-new episode of “The Big Interview” (TBI) on Tuesday, December 13th, at 7 pm ET|4 pm PT, as Dan Rather sits down for an in-depth conversation with Keith Urban…who was nominated for three GRAMMY Awards this week.

Filmed at The Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut, the second to last stop on the North American leg of Urban’s acclaimed “ripCORD WORLD TOUR 2016,” the hour-long event provides a rare and intimate look into Urban’s life and career.

AXS TV’s cameras were granted unprecedented access for this special event, featuring never-before-seen footage and exclusive photographs, as Rather delves into Urban’s early childhood in Australia and his arrival in Nashville, to his turbulent personal journey to sobriety and award-winning career as one of the industry’s most respected musicians, songwriters, producers, and live performers. This episode of  “The Big Interview” is one not to be missed.

Urban credits music with helping him adapt through a childhood that found him frequently moving, saying…

I went to maybe six different schools in about, you know, six years… And I was really grateful that music always helped me with that, ’cause I was always the new kid in school. But, I could play songs, which was helpful on one side and then challenging on the other—a bit threatening to some people, as well, you know? But, all in all, I found it to be a great way to make friends, was through music… I think of it more as being able to adapt to my surroundings than anything else, which was very helpful coming into Nashville in the early days.”

On being branded as one of the genre’s biggest risk takers, Urban says…

I don’t think of it as risk; I think of it as more of a willingness to heed the call. It feels much more like that. And I don’t mean that in some sort of grand sort of calling. I just mean a very simple sense of where I’m supposed to be, where my heart and soul are going to go, and the willingness to go there, which I never felt as risk, just the willingness. I don’t know that there’s a real pull to pull you out of a plane with a parachute on your back. That feels more like a risk. But moving from Australia to Nashville to continue music and seek out the rest of the journey felt very, very natural for me.”

“As we say in Texas, Keith Urban is the real deal,” Rather said. “I’ve met many entertainers, but few are as genuinely interesting to talk to.”
