Jessie James Unleashes Her Unique Vocals on “When You Say My Name”

Show Dog – Universal Music released the unique vocal range of recording artist Jessie James and her debut single “When You Say My Name” to iTunes January 31, 2012. The song was produced by label President Mark Wright and was followed by its Kristin Barlowe directed video debut on CMT on February 3, 2012. The single is due to launch at radio later in the year.

“When You Say My Name” is a snappy play on romance, reminding the listener “No matter what life brings I know it’s gonna be okay” because all love has to do is “say my name, everything comes alive // when you touch my hand, you’re telling me a secret only we can understand.” It’s a youthful dance on the lighter side of romance delivered by a mature artist and a mature voice. Jessie may be making her debut with “When You Say My Name” but this larger-than-life talent in a petite package has been ready for her close-up since she was a toddler.

“I remember hearing a demo on Jessie a few years ago and being very impressed with what a big voice she had for such a young girl,”  said Mark Wright, President Show Dog – Universal Music. “I followed up, only to find that Mercury in New York had signed her.  I was so excited to hear from my friend and colleague David Massey at Mercury that Jessie had always considered herself a country artist and would I consider joining forces with him to launch her into the country market. I am proud that SDU and Mercury/IDJ can jointly bring you this exciting, new, soon-to-be superstar.”

Jessie’s musical training began early on and very different. At the age of two, this well-traveled military brat, born a fiery Aries in a military field hospital in Italy, began singing into a toy microphone and tape recorder, a gift from her mom. By the time she was nine, Jessie was composing her own songs on a plastic guitar and performing in front of large audiences, including the opening of Sea World and the Republican Convention, to name a few. And now Show Dog – Universal Music joining Jessie’s performance list.

“It was an honor to work with such a legend like Mark Wright,” adds James.  “Everything came together so easily and so natural with him.  He is such a fun guy and we had a blast making this record; I’m glad to have the support of him and the Show Dog-Universal Music staff, they’ve become like family to me.”

You can purchase Jessie James’ debut single “When You Say My Name” at iTunes now and become part of her musical family.
