Heartbreaking News: Eddie Montgomery’s Son Dies

Heartbreaking news broke today, the 19-year-old son of Eddie Montgomery, one-half of country duo Montgomery Gentry, has passed away.

My son Hunter went to heaven today,” the singer said. “I appreciate all your prayers and love and thank you for giving us privacy as we grieve and say goodbye.”

Hunter’s death follows an earlier accident that left him on life support in a Kentucky hospital, according to the statement. Hunter is the youngest of Montgomery’s kids with ex-wife Tracy. Together they had four children, including daughters Brooke and Candace and oldest son Kevin.

Eddie has had his share of ups and downs over the last couple of years. In April 2014, he married girlfriend Jennifer Belcher. In 2010, Eddie revealed that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer and, in January 2014; he filed for personal bankruptcy, citing debt from a failed restaurant venture and an previous divorce.

Hunter’s funeral arrangements are pending, according to the statement. Montgomery Gentry released their “Folks Like Us” album in June.
