H-E-B’s Superbowl Ad with Jack Ingram Dispels Texas Myths and Invites YOU to ROPE IN SOME TEXAS PRIZES – Ad and Contest Airs Superbowl Sunday

Do Texans really ride horses to work? And run track in cowboy boots?

Is it true they accessorize every outfit with a giant, rodeo-style belt buckle?

And do Texans really barbecue at every meal?

With a little help from Texas native and country music star Jack Ingram, San Antonio based retailer H-E-B sets out to dispel some famous myths about the Lone Star State and find out what really makes a “True Texan.” HEB will debut on Super Bowl Sunday with a 60-second commercial starring Jack Ingram asking viewers if they really believe all these silly myths about Texas. The commercial will be followed by a series of social media “True Texan” Twitter contests using hastag #truetexan.

“This is something we hear from our customers all the time,” said Cory Basso, H-E-B Group Vice President of Marketing and Advertising. “No other retailer can compare to H-E-B when it comes to connecting with our customers and treating them like family. For our Super Bowl campaign, we wanted to show that shopping at your neighborhood H-E-B is part of what it means to be a True Texan, but do it in a fun and entertaining way.”

After the 60-second Super Bowl commercial debut, the ads will go into regular rotation and will air throughout February. They can be viewed during high profile programs such as The GRAMMY Awards.

The campaign will also feature a strong social media component to include promotions, contests and interactive content on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to find out what makes a “True Texan.” And viewers will have the chance to win barbecue grills, outdoor furniture, H-E-B gift cards and much more.

A sneak peek of the commercial can be previewed at heb.com/truetexan, along with official contest rules.

In the end, there’s one myth that apparently does ring true. And if you’re a “True Texan” you probably already know what it is. If not, you’ll have to tune in to find out !

HAVE FUN and GOOD LUCK with the H-E-B True Texan Contest
