“Girl In A Country Song” Lands Maddie & Tae With 3 CMT Music Award Nominations

When Maddie & Tae wrote “Girl In A Country Song,” they never imagined their sassy, fed-up with the Daisy Dukes wearin’, tan-legs flauntin’, bikini top sportin’ voiceless status girls the young country hunks they were singing about would strike a chord with country fans around the world.

Their GOLD Certified #1 debut single has received over 22 million video views and recently, landed the duo three CMT Music Awards nominations for “Breakout Video of the Year,” “Duo Video of the Year” and “Video of the Year.”

“This is crazy,” Maddie Marlow exclaimed. “We were just trying to have a little fun and create a video with some humor to it.”

“Girl In A Country Song” became the third debut single by a female duo to go #1 in over 70 years! This hit song singled out by The New Yorker, Atlantic Monthly, Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, NPR and The Late Show with David Letterman, certainly got people’s attention from the pair of 19 year olds.

“We never thought anything like this would happen,” marvels Tae Dye. “To us it was a funny little song and then the video made us laugh. It’s an amazing feeling to see all the people who’ve watched it online and the people at CMT who’ve played it.”

The “Girl In A Country Song” video, which was directed by TK McKamy, swiftly became one of those “You Have To See This…” propositions. With just the right amount of sass and spunk from the girls, the video significantly features three fairly average-looking guys shamelessly vamping and frolicking in skimpy “video babe” attire.

Fans can vote NOW through June 8th at CMT.com. The CMT Music Awards will air LIVE from Bridgestone Arena on June 10th at 8/7c.

Maddie & Tae’s debut album “Start Here” is scheduled to be released August 28th on Dot Records. And in the meantime, fans can catch the darling duo on Dierks Bentley’s “Sounds Of Summer Tour” kicking off June 5th in Raleigh, NC.
