Danny Gokey Ties For Most Nominations In Contemporary Christian Music Category At The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards

Capitol Christian Recording Artist Danny Gokey has reason to celebrate this holiday season, as the former American Idol star received two Recording Academy nominations for the 62nd Annual GRAMMY Awards in 2020. This is his second year of nominations, and he shares the lead for most nominated in the Contemporary Christian Music category with for KING & COUNTRY and Kirk Franklin. Gokey’s 2019 album “Haven’t Seen It Yet” was nominated for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album, and the title track is a front runner nominee for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song.

“When I heard the news about the nominations, I was blown away. It’s all still sinking in! This project has been especially meaningful to me,” Gokey shared. “A lot of hard work, time and creativity went into the album from many writers and producers. I’m so thankful to all of them for the incredible input and talents they poured into these songs. But most of all, thanks be to God! I never thought when I was driving a semi several years ago that I would ever be nominated for a Grammy.”

Haven’t Seen It Yet, released in April of this year, marks Gokey’s fifth studio album since launching into the spotlight via American Idol and is his debut release with Capitol Christian Music Group. The record features an extraordinary blend of encouraging anthems, such as “No Pressure” and “Wanted,” along with upbeat pop tracks his listeners have come to know and love him for, including “New Day” and “Fighter.”

Following this GRAMMY-nominated album release, Danny Gokey is currently celebrating the holiday season with another release, The Greatest Gift: A Christmas Collection. Featuring Kari Jobe, Natalie Grant and fellow American Idol alum David Archuleta, the album combines both nostalgic holiday favorites and new original Christmas songs offering something for everyone. Gokey worked with Dove award-winning and GRAMMY-nominated songwriter and producer Hank Bentley on this album, and also features tracks penned by renowned songwriter and producer David Foster, GRAMMY-award winner Ben Glover, acclaimed producer Colby Wedgeworth (Zach Williams) and more.

Fans can see Gokey live on the Celebrate Christmas Tour this December with Natalie Grant beginning in Colorado Springs, CO on Dec. 4 and continuing until Christmas.
