Congratulations: Tenille Arts Wins Five SCMA Awards

The rapid rise of new Reviver Records artist Tenille Arts through the Country music ranks is being felt both in Canada and the U.S., as she took home all five awards for which she was nominated from the Saskatchewan Country Music Association Saturday night.

Her awards presented at the EA Rawlinson Centre in Prince Albert included:

Female Artist of the Year

Songwriter of the Year, which she shared with co-writers Adam

Wheeler and Mark Narmore for “Rain Drops, Dirt Roads” from her Rebel Child Album

Album of the Year for Rebel Child

Video of the Year for “Cold Feet” – Patrick Tohill, Director

Single of the Year for “What He’s Into”

A native of Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Tenille received the SCMA’s Emerging Artist Award in 2016 and Album of the Year for her self-titled EP last year.

Congratulations to all of the nominees, and thank you so much to all of the members who voted for me,” said Tenille in a Facebook post Saturday night. “I’m so proud of Saskatchewan and our amazing community of country music. It’s been a great year, and it feels amazing to be recognized like this. Thanks to my whole team and every single person who has listened to my music.”

In addition to taking home a record number of awards for the night, Tenille performed “Moment of Weakness,” the original song she sang on The Bachelor earlier this year, and “Find The Good,” a tribute to SCMA artist Mandy Ringdal who lost her battle with cancer last year. Tenille also participated in a multi-artist performance honoring members of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s Humboldt Broncos who lost their lives when their bus collided with a truck on the way to a playoff game April 6th.

The 23-year-old behind all of this recent attention is quietly confident country music lover raised in the small prairie town of Weyburn, Saskatchewan. She picked up the guitar and penned her first song at the age of 13 and has been performing across the US and Canada ever since. She made the move to Nashville almost three years ago, and a songwriting session brought her to the attention of award-winning producer Matt Rovey (Craig Campbell, Dean Brody), songwriter/producer Adam Wheeler and Noble Vision head Hal Oven.

Tenille’s music has tallied over five million streams. Her debut EP peaked at #1 on the iTunes Canada Country Album Chart and #37 on the iTunes U.S. Country Album Chart. Her first full-length album, “Rebel Child”, reached #2 on the iTunes Canada Country Album Chart and #16 on the iTunes U.S Country Album Chart.

Her “Cold Feet” single so moved noted music critic Tom Roland that he penned a rare full-page feature about the recording in a recent issue of the Billboard Country Update.  Music Row Magazine critic Robert K. Oermann called Tenille “Promising in the extreme.” Streaming giant Pandora named her one of their new artists to watch for 2017, saying, “with songwriting inspired by Don Henley and reminiscent of early Taylor Swift, and vocals the size of her native Canada, Arts’ future is bright.”

Popular country website whiskeyriff.com labeled Tenille a “new country artist name you need to know immediately,” and PopCulture.com named her one of their “Country Artists to Watch in 2018.”
