Chris Stapleton Silences The Opry With His Cover Of “Amanda”

Chris Stapleton closed out his performance on the Opry with a stripped-down cover of “Amanda”…and if your name is Amanda, this one goes out especially to you!

The mid-Seventies classic was made popular by Don Williams and Waylon Jennings. The arrangement was raw, with Stapleton’s guitar backed only by the steady pluck of J.T. Cure’s bass. The effect, though, was amazing, as his voice rattled the rafters all the way from the Opry stage to the theater’s cheap seats. Morgane Stapleton, you may not know, is also a very talented singer and got to get in on the action singing harmonies during the chorus.

On a radio show filled with big performances from big names, Stapleton proved that even though he may still be making a name for himself (which I think he has already done) he can still make a HUGE impression by taking country music back to its basics! That is what we love about Chris Stapleton…

Watch Stapleton perform the classic “Amanda” LIVE at the Grand Ole Opry here, you will be glad you did…
