Campaign Launched To Get Joey+Rory’s “When I’m Gone” To #1

Fans of the country duo Joey + Rory received some devastating news recently that Joey Feek, wife and partner Rory Feek, is losing her brave battle with cervical cancer, despite aggressive treatments, spending her final days in hospice care at her Alexandria, Indiana, childhood home and saying good bye to her family and friends.

I thought I did everything,” she told Cindy Watts of the Tennessean newspaper last week. “But God decided for me that my job of singing for people down here is my legacy, and he needs me singing up there. That’s how I look at it.”

Rory Feek announced in October on his blog, This Life I Live, where he has been keeping fans updated on Joey’s condition, that his beloved wife was ending her treatments, and moving back to her family home. She is frail and on morphine to alleviate her pain, Watts reported, and likely does not have the six to nine months left that doctors originally anticipated she would have.

I pray that one morning I just don’t wake up,” Joey said. “But I don’t fear anything because I’m so close to God and we’ve talked about it so many times. I know He’s close. And I know He loves me. I’m really at peace. I still believe there’s healing in prayer.”

Rory + Joey fans have launched a Twitter campaign to help drive one of the country duo’s songs to #1 on iTunes. “When I’m Gone” is a song recorded by Joey+Rory for their “His and Hers” album from 2012. The song’s lyrics deal with death and loss and are especially poignant considering Joey’s cancer diagnosis. Shortly after the album’s release, Joey stated that the song touched her deeply according to The Boot.

I was devastated, absolutely devastated when I heard it and what it meant and coming from the person who is leaving their loved one,” she said. “That concept was just something that I had never heard or thought of before and it really struck me.”

If you’ve been looking for a way to show support for Joey+Rory, now you can…fans are flocking to iTunes to purchase the single in hopes of driving it to #1 on the singles chart. It currently sits at #7 on the chart, but with your help it can reach #1!

Fellow country singer Terri Clark joined the ranks of supporters who encouraged others to purchase “When I’m Gone” on iTunes. Be sure to download your copy today!
